Xinbarag Youqi Baogede Airport is located in the northeast of the Baogede Wula Mountains in Xinbarag Youqi, Hulunbuir City, facing Baogede Wula Mountains from north to south, hence it’s named after "Baogede". The airport has convenient transportation, close to the national highway, only 13.5 kilometers away from Altan Emel Town, where Xinbarag Youqi is located, and 83 kilometers away from the China-Russia-Mongolian border.

Xinbarag Youqi Baogede Airport is one of the ten commuter general airport projects in the 12th Five-Year Plan for Civil Aviation Development in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and it is also a pilot project for China to expand the field of general aviation services.

The airport started construction in an all-round way in 2013 and was granted the A1 General Airport Use Permit on December 14 in 2017. The airport runway is 1,200 meters long and 23 meters wide, with one linking taxiway, three Class B aprons, two blast pads, and two turn pads. The terminal complex covers an area of 1,124 square meters. In 2019, with the joint efforts of the local government, which funded the new expansion of 3,000 square meters of the apron, and Inner Mongolia Airport Group, which financed the new aircraft hangar of 750 square meters, the general airport infrastructure is basically complete. Xinbarag Youqi Baogede Airport opened the route from Xinbarag Youqi to Hailar on December 26, 2017. Xinbarag Youqi Baogede Airport mainly focuses on short-distance transportation. As a general airport located at the border area of China, Russia, and Mongolia, it provides interconnection services for short-distance aviation transportation, tourism, photography, forest protection, grassland pest control, fire prevention, disaster relief, medical rescue, business charter flights, and aviation training among China, Russia, and Mongolia.

In recent years, with the opening up of Xinbarag Youqi, the tourism industry has been continuously upgraded, and social undertakings have made great progress, especially the opening of Arihashate Port in Xinbarag Youqi and China-Mongolia border, and the economic and trade exchanges have become increasingly frequent, which has driven the rapid growth of people flow, logistics and capital flow in Xinbarag Youqi. The airport has added vitality to the general airport cluster in Hulunbuir and left an indelible mark on regional economic development, social harmony and progress, border prosperity, opening-up, and deepening development.
