Wulanhaote Branch of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Civil Airports Group Co., Ltd. is located near Yilelite Town, Wulanhaote City, Hinggan League, 17 kilometers away from the urban area, with a 4C-rated airfield area and a fire rescue level of 7. The terminal covers an area of 18,000 square meters, and the runway is 2,600 meters long and 45 meters wide, which can handle an annual passenger throughput of 1.2 million. At present, it has two transport aprons with a total area of 40,552.5 square meters, eight stands (four jet bridges), one professional apron with an area of 24,415 square meters, and 34 general stands.

In 1942, Ulanhot Station of Civil Aviation was built, covering a total area of 2.8 square kilometers. In 1962, Ulanhot Station of Civil Aviation was designated as a Class 3 reserved airport by the Air Force. On May 10, 1992, the construction of Ulanhot New Airport broke ground. On December 19, 1994, it was relocated to the new airport. On April 1, 1995, the new airport passed the trial acceptance, rated 3C airfield area, with a runway length of 1,800 meters and a width of 36 meters. On April 5, the new airport was officially opened.

On July 25, 2006, the reconstruction and expansion project of Ulanhot Airport officially broke ground. On October 28, it passed the completion acceptance. On December 20, it passed the industry acceptance.

In April 2013, the expansion project of the Ulanhot Airport airfield area officially started construction. On October 29, 2014, it passed the industry acceptance. On January 8, 2015, the new runway was officially put into use.

In September 2013, the expansion project of the Ulanhot Airport Terminal Area officially started. On May 19, 2015, it passed the completion acceptance. On July 3, 2015, it passed the industry acceptance. On July 30, 2015, the new terminal building was officially put into use.
