Erenhot Saiwusu Airport is located in Erenhot City, Xilingol League, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, 36 kilometers away from the border between China and Mongolia. It was opened in April 2010. After 12 years of development, it has become an important transportation force standing on the border between China and Mongolia and responding to the strategic development of serving the country. In recent years, under the guidance of building the Belt and Road Initiative, the construction of the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor, and the construction of a bridgehead opening to the north, the route network development of Erenhot Airport has initially formed a route structure connecting Beijing, Hohhot, Zhengzhou, Xi'an, Shenyang, Haikou, and other key cities, and connecting Ulaanbaatar, Irkutsk, Ulan-Ude and other major cities in Mongolia and Russia. In the border towns with a resident population of only over 60,000, the airport passenger throughput has jumped by 40,000, 160,000, and 230,000 year by year. To help port development and build an international bridge, Erenhot Airport is moving forward toward building an important regional gateway airport in the northern part of China.
