Inner Mongolia Alax Civil Aviation Airport Co., Ltd., established in July 2013, was the first pilot commuter airport in China. Alax League Administrative Office entrusted Inner Mongolia Civil Aviation Airport Group to manage Alax Zuoqi Bayanhot Airport (hereinafter referred to as "Zuoqi Airport"), Alax Youqi Badain Jaran Airport (hereinafter referred to as "Youqi Airport") and Ejinaqi Taolai Airport (hereinafter referred to as "Ejinaqi Airport"), which were officially put into operation on December 17, 2013.

Zuoqi Airport is located in the southwest of Bayanhot Town, with a straight-line distance of 16 kilometers from the town, a 3C airfield area and three parking spaces. Youqi Airport is located on the west side of Ekenhudouge Town, with a straight-line distance of 10.7 kilometers from the town, a 3C airfield area and two parking spaces. Ejinaqi Airport is located in the northwest of Dalaihubu Town, with a straight-line distance of 9.2 kilometers from the town, a 3C airfield area and two parking spaces.

In 2016, Zuoqi Airport took the opportunity of the renovation of the airfield area to introduce Tianjin Airlines EMB145 aircraft to fly the route from Hohhot to Alax Zuoqi, ending the era of single-model operation of MA60 aircraft. In December 2017, the CRJ900 model of China Airlines was introduced to participate in the operation of the Hohhot-Alax Zuoqi route, realizing the diversification of operating airlines and models. In June 2019, Alax Airport thoroughly implemented the development strategy of Inner Mongolia Civil Aviation Airport Group's "linkage between trunk and branch airports", and launched the "stopover at Zuoqi" transit brand with core services of "six exemptions, five premiums, and three benefits". In February 2021, the State Council and the Central Military Commission approved the upgrade of Alax Zuoqi Commuter Airport to a branch airport, marking another key step in Alax's construction of convenient air transportation and the creation of a three-dimensional transportation network.
