Chengde Puning Airport officially operated on May 31, 2017. Chengde Airport is a high-fill airport with an airspace area of 4C and a runway length of 2,800 meters and a width of 45 meters. The terminal covers an area of 4,996.1 square meters, with five Class C parking areas, a designed annual capacity of 450,000 passengers per year, and a cargo and mail capacity of 1,200 tons per year.

Since its operation, Chengde Airport has opened 19 routes to 18 cities and has initially formed a network of three horizontal and four vertical routes connecting East China, Northwest China, Southwest China, and South China. Chengde Airport has played an important role in solving people's travel problems, improving opening to the outside world, and promoting economic and social development. At the same time, as an important node around the Capital Airport, Chengde Airport has promoted the coordinated development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei civil aviation, relieved Beijing's non-capital function, and further improved the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei airport cluster.
