Ganzhou Golden Airport, founded in 1936, was expanded into a civil airport in 1959. It is one of the few regional airports built by civil aviation in China, and the airport has been rebuilt and expanded many times. With the development of urban construction and aviation, the relocation project of Ganzhou Huangjin Airport started in 2006, and the new airport was completed and put into use on March 26, 2008. Ganzhou Airport handled 600,000 passengers and 4,500 tons of cargo and mail in 2012. On November 29, 2015, the reconstruction and expansion project of Ganzhou Huangjin Airport started construction in an all-round way, with a new parallel taxiway of 1040×23 meters and a vertical linking taxiway, a new No.2 apron with 11 parking spaces and a new T2 terminal building of 22,000 square meters. On September 29, 2019, Terminal 2 of Ganzhou Huangjin Airport was officially opened. The original Terminal 1 is reserved as an international terminal building, and the port was temporarily opened international routes would be opened by the end of 2019. In 2019, the passenger throughput of Ganzhou Airport exceeded two million.
